About Handling & Lifting

No business should take any risks over the handling of its stock - the consequences of doing so could be very serious, both in terms of injury to staff, and even possible legal repercussions.
So if you take the safety of your workers seriously, investing in the most suitable handling and lifting equipment for the job is a top priority.
Thankfully, you only need to make one stop to find everything you need - and that's with us here at Slingsby.

We have been fulfilling businesses' every industrial and commercial product need for nearly 120 years, and we now manufacture and distribute more than 35,000 individual lines. We can even custom-make individual products for your business if what you find here doesn't meet your exact needs.
We stock a range of pallet trucks, container trucks, platform trucks, barrows and tilt trucks, conveyors, lifting gear, DIY trolleys and much more - in fact, everything to make lifting and shifting easy.
Since we launched our free next-day delivery service on more than 3,000 of our lines, our business has gone from strength to strength. So get our experience behind your business today, and remember, we're here whenever you need a helping hand.
Legislation
More than a third of all injuries reported each year to HSE and local authorities are caused by manual handling - the transporting or supporting of loads by hand or by bodily force.
Most of these injuries are musculoskeletal disorders to backs, although strains to all other parts of the body are also reported each year. In most instances heavy lifting can be avoided in the workplace by undertaking a variety of safety precautions.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, (amended) apply to a wide range of manual handling activities, including lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling or carrying.
The Regulations require employers to:
Avoid the need for hazardous manual handling, so far as is reasonably practicable;
Assess the risk of injury from any hazardous manual handling that can't be avoided;
Reduce the risk of injury from hazardous manual handling, so far as is reasonably practicable.
Slingsby supply many products to reduce the need for lifting and pulling heavy objects including lift tables, powered pallet trucks and powered stair climbers.
