About Workshop & Maintenance
Legislation
According to the HSE, employers are obliged to ensure their employees achieve their ideal working conditions such as ideal temperature, noise levels, and working positions.
Advice for employers includes:
Avoid stooping, bending over or crouching for any periods of time to reduce stresses and strains by using a range of height adjustable workbenches, chairs and stools.
Keep a track of the temperature in the workplace, use a thermometer or climate check and adjust with fans or heaters accordingly.
The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 states at 85 decibels employers must provide hearing protection and hearing protection zones. Use Sound level meters to assess noise levels and take risk assessments to assess the steps to further protect employees such as the use of ear defenders.
