THIS month’s cold weather is driving sales at a newly opened Yorkshire salt facility which was recently launched by workplace equipment provider Slingsby to complement the company’s wide range of winter related products.
The salt distribution centre and bagging plant enables the company to provide next day delivery anywhere in the UK on salt, rock salt and grit in quantities ranging from 5kg to 1 tonne bags.
In the last two weeks alone Slingsby has made hundreds of deliveries of salt throughout the UK and has numerous customers, from both the commercial and domestic markets, visiting its trade counter at the company’s head quarters on Otley Road in Baildon to collect salt and other winter related products.
Lee Wright, Marketing Director of Slingsby, which supplies more than 35,000 workplace products through its catalogue and website, explains: “In recent years there have been major salt shortages and as the UK’s leading workplace equipment provider we decided to tackle the problem head on.
“This facility enables us to stockpile and process all quantities of salt and we’re currently supplying it to a wide range of customers including private homeowners, hospitals, retailers, schools, factories, the public sector and any other organisations that have car parks, walkways and outdoor areas.”
Lee adds: “Every year we continue investing in our product ranges in order to meet the demands of the market and now offer a vast range of winter products. Other new additions this year also include a range of snow shovels that are specifically designed to be lightweight and ergonomic making it easier to move snow and reducing the need to bend. This comes after we found that thousands of people end up in hospitals every year as a result of snow clearing injuries. These products are proving to be a huge success and the feedback we’re receiving about them is fantastic.
“Plus our on-site, state of the art, plastic moulding facility which enables us to produce grit bins and other similar products using recycled plastic is continuing to be as popular as ever and with forecasters predicting that the cold weather will continue we’re working hard to increase stock levels across all our winter products.”
