Whirling hygrometers are used to measure relative humidity and temperature directly, they have two matched thermometers called 'bulbs' - one is the dry bulb and the other the wet bulb. The compact whirling hygrometers available from Slingsby are designed to be rotated by hand to provide adequate and consistent ventilation of the bulbs. In these hygrometers the thermometer tubes used have a blue coloured LO-tox™ filling which has a similar accuracy and better legibility than mercury filling, the range is: -5 to +50°C. The instrument uses shorter tubes and the design incorporates a 'slide rule' type calculator to determine the % of relative humidity - the body of the instrument slides away into the handle of the product, providing complete protection when not in use.
