The Benefits of Ergonomic Furniture

Top Tip! Using ergonomic furniture in the office reduces the risk of damaged neck and back joints and improves productivity.

Ergonomic furniture is specifically designed to encourage good posture and provide comfort. It ensures the users body is kept in an upright position, reducing stress on the spine, neck, and hips.

In addition to reducing pain and fatigue, ergonomic furniture also boosts productivity and improves employee wellness. As well as providing improved options for physical health, it also has a huge impact on mental health and sends a message to employees that their wellbeing is cared for by their employer.

Legislation is in place to encourage employers to take responsibility for the posture and workstation layout of employees. The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 apply to all workplaces where people use computers and screens as a significant part of their work, and they require employers to minimise risks by ensuring that workstations are well designed.

Rather than listing specific requirements or equipment, the regulations require employers to carry out risk assessments on workstations and then address individual risks.  Employers must consider the whole workstation including equipment, furniture, and the work environment as well as the job being done and the specific requirements of individual staff.

What’s the difference between an ergonomic chair and an executive chair?

- Ergonomic chairs are ideal for longer hours of use. They offer maximum lumbar support and comfort. Ergonomic chairs are easily adjustable to suit the individual user. We recommend the Twin Lever Operator Chair with Arms

- Executive chairs are effective, comfortable and easily adjustable. They're usually high quality, professional looking chairs. We recommend the High Back Leather Effect Executive Chair
